This is an excellent time of year to dedicate our learning to the lives of many famous black Americans. By incorporating technology, your students can learn many skills while learning about various periods.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Collaborative Projects:<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0Using<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/educatormarketplace.com\/deal-category\/all-deals\/software\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0software<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> such as google documents or canvas allows students to create a shared document; not only does working with others help them learn skills and demonstrate their understanding of historical concepts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i.ibb.co\/q5pBhpz\/1-Slide-1-copy-2.jpg\" alt=\"1-Slide-1-copy-2\" width=\"503\" height=\"283\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Digital Resources- Finding time period documents can be found on the Library of Congress website. The National archives allow students to see digital\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/educatormarketplace.com\/deal\/snapfish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">images<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and are easily accessed. Students need to understand the importance of Primary Sources. Using these not only helps students understand historical facts but learn how to evaluate their resources.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Audio and Video files:<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0These help students understand the attitudes and opinions of that time period.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/educatormarketplace.com\/deal\/vimeo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Digital files\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">can be found in The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. These are free to access, and according to the blackhistorymonth.gov website, the purpose is to pay \u201ctribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/i.ibb.co\/rxwsGVn\/2-Slide-1-copy-3.jpg\" alt=\"2-Slide-1-copy-3\" width=\"444\" height=\"249\" border=\"0\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 444px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 444\/249;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><strong>Online books:<\/strong>\u00a0using computers, laptops, or phones in the classroom grants access to your resources 24-7. These can be assigned\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/educatormarketplace.com\/deal\/informit-save-40\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ebooks<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0to students that your school has purchased. Your school librarian should be able to direct you to use these resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Meeting the standards and your student\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/educatormarketplace.com\/deal\/academic-superstore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">academic<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> needs can be taught within a thematic unit. Depending on your grade level and which standard, you can tailor your lessons to engage students in learning about the past and help shape their future. The blackhistorymonth.gov website includes lesson plans to help teach these topics to older students. Elementary and Middle school teachers can find ready-to-use programs on the pbs.org website.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Learning about history can engage students when educators find and use high-quality resources, ask thoughtful questions, and have students work collaboratively.
